Black Alley with Tabi Bonney, Chuck Starr and Footwerk
Birthed in Southeast DC, Black Alley is known for pushing the art of music to its rhythmic limits. Determined to create a unique musical elixir, Black Alley takes the finest ingredients of hip-hop, soul, and rock to create their own genre-bending sound called #HoodRock. Each band member surrenders to the union of sounds, making each musician essential to the workability and funkability of the collective, known as Black Alley.
Black Alley is one of the most followed, trendsetting and sought-after music groups hailing from the nation's capital. With endorsements from national recording artists such as Grammy Award nominee Raheem DeVaughn, Hip Hop standouts Common, Big KRIT & Wale, and legendary musicians Doug E. Fresh and Sheila E, Black Alley is untouchable, striving to rock harder and heavier each time they unite and contribute to the greater good of music.
Tabi Bonney is a rising star out of Washington DC by way of the African nation of Togo. He has made a career of doing what others won’t or can’t. While other rappers are stuck serving the same postured, provincial look at life, tabi’s point of view is refreshingly borderless. His anthemic tracks are known best for unusual cadences and pitch-bending inflections. His drive and talent are unparalleled—earning him regular video rotation on MTV and national radio play with previous hit singles “Nuthin’ But A Hero” and “The Pocket,” all without an official record label or distribution deal.
Over time, Bonney adopted a more musically sophisticated direction inspired both by eclectic acts like Bjork and Little Dragon. and the global accessibility of Will.I.Am and Pharrell Williams. After a stint with The CryBabies, a co-ed pop group he formed with Black Eyed Peas songwriter/producer Poet Name Life and singer Niki Jean, he released his own acclaimed project (Postcard From Abroad) featuring experimental mash ups with Lykki Li, Phoenix, SBTRKT, Aeroplane and more. Now residing in sunny LA, tabi has gathered a fresh team of producers to focus on a new electro-pop sound with his eyes on global stardom. Please allow tabi Bonney to reintroduce himself.
