Blue Star Radiaton ft. Rob Derhak & Vinnie Amico (moe.), Tim Palmieri (Lotus), Nate Wilson (Assembly of Dust)
Musical artists collaborate all the time. We all can identify with that feeling when your favorite band invites a well known keyboardist, or killer guitarist on stage at a festival or show. It is simply magical.
When renowned keyboardist Nate Wilson, band leader for Ghosts of Jupiter, and founding member of both Assembly of Dust, and Percy Hill, came to Moe.’s bassist and vocalist, Rob Derhak with the idea to form a band on those principles, the band Blue Star Radiation took its first breath. Enlisting the drumming prowess of Moe.’s long time rhythm keeper, Vinnie Amico, and none other than guitarist and vocalist from the legendary bands The Breakfast, Kung Fu, and most recently Lotus, Tim Palmieri, the genesis of Blue Star came to be.
A band of improvisational, jam band musicians that share an affinity for the classic rock we all know and love. The ditties, the anthems, and the deep cuts that remind us of a different time. They simply write the songs and play the covers that give the audience goosebumps.
Tim Palmieri (of Kung Fu & The Breakfast)
Tim Palmieri has made a name for himself as one of the most impressive young guitarists on the national music scene today. Playing with his band The Breakfast alongside artists such as moe., Umphrey’s McGee, Tea Leaf Green, and Phish’s Mike Gordon, the New Haven native has amassed a loyal following of obsessive fans who keep tabs on just about every note.
While prominent in the jam scene for his aggressive and improvisational guitar style, Palmieri has grown to be equally comfortable playing acoustic, branching out into a busy solo career over the past few years. “Timmy Tour” – as fans have dubbed the Tim Palmieri Solo Acoustic experience – has grown organically and continues to expand as music lovers demand performances in their hometowns nationwide. These acoustic gigs are peppered with a mix of Breakfast originals, classic covers, and unexpected rarities, each of which Palmieri makes his own through his distinctive style of rhythmic looping.
At the same time, Palmieri refuses to get too comfortable as a performer, always seeking to challenge himself in new ways. Whether that be covering the complete Beatles catalogue in alphabetical order or playing in an entirely improvisational jazz band , Palmieri is known to keep fans guessing. And they’re always eager for more.
