Not easily defined, Barnaby Bright is an alt-Americana trio with contemporary influences that reflect their journey from Brooklyn to Nashville to Kansas, while drawing from Nathan’s Oklahoma roots and distant relation to Merle Haggard. The band has cultivated a loyal following with their ability to weave storytelling into sonic treasures. A Barnaby Bright show takes audiences on a ride through love songs, murder ballads, and deeply moving, relatable themes, often leaving fans with the phrase, “that was a spiritual experience.”
Nathan’s virtuosic acoustic guitar and banjo playing, paired with Becky’s effortless, soaring vocals over the drone of the harmonium, push the boundaries of modern indie folk.
Barnaby Bright has received numerous accolades, including winning the grand prize at NYC’s Songwriter’s Circle, being named to Amazon’s Top 100 Albums of the Year, and having their Christmas album selected by The New York Times as one of the Top 20 Christmas Albums of the Year. Five of their Christmas songs were featured on Netflix’s hit show Sex/Life.
In addition to opening for acts like Norah Jones and The Lumineers, Barnaby Bright continues to mesmerize audiences and attract new followers with each show. In 2025, the duo will release their new album The Sum of Moments Passed and embark on a nationwide tour to support the record.
